Pantone’s Color of the Year - Perfect for your Blue Ridge Mountain Wedding

Pantone just announced Emerald as their color of the year for 2012. I'm still in love with the 2012 pick: Tangerine Tango but the Emerald is a nice continuation of  the jewel tones that were popular last year. Emerald would definitely be jaw dropping for a Fall wedding in the NC Mountains. The contrast of the Emerald against the changing leaves would be gorgeous. Can't wait to see what my 2013 brides come up with!

Laura and Clay's High Country Wedding at the Camp at Eseeola in Linville, NC

Wonderful Rustic Elegant wedding at the Camp at Eseeola in Linville NC. Laura and Clay were blessed with the most beautiful weather that I have seen all season for their big day.

Janna Avery from Callista designs and the rest of the Eseeola staff do an amazing job setting the scene and making the décor blend seamlessly with the already stunning blue ridge mountain backdrop.

Music was a big deal for this couple. The groom plays Mandolin and Drums so not only did the wedding party host major jam sessions during the week before the wedding at their rental houses,  the also booked an awesome band our of Charleston called Triple Lindy for the reception.

The dinner was catered by Eseeola and was distinctive southern fare complete with carving stations, a mashed potato bar and even a late night snack of black and bleu sliders.

Jo Ann Hallmark of Blowing Rock NC baked a lovely and delicious cake as usual and as you can see below, Visio Photography was totally on point capturing this luxurious yet laid back affair!

So excited about Stephanie and Savva’s upcoming July Wedding at the ASU Solarium in Boone, NC.

White Fence Farm - The High Country’s Newest Wedding Venue

303305_301176946633529_66620731_n

I am seriously excited that we have a such a gorgeous new farm wedding venue in the mountains of the High Country. 2013 Brides who want a laid back, country mountain wedding should take a look at White Fence Farm . Owners Denise and Fulton Lovin were kind enough to show me around and write a little bit about White Fence Farm for the blog.

“It seems like a lot of couples want to get back to nature and celebrate their marriage with simple rustic charm.  We knew our property, over 100 acres, complete with barn and a 1940's farmhouse was the perfect venue for a farm wedding, and this year we decided to open it to the public.

White Fence Farm is located only 15 minutes from Boone, a straight shot on 421. The location is very private, surrounded by rolling hills, bubbling creeks, wild flowers, and open spaces. It is truly a beautiful setting and so close to everything.

For those looking for a farm to be the backdrop for their wedding,  we have it all -  barn complete with bar and stage/dance floor, horseshoe pit, bonfire, pond stocked with fish, hiking trails. The neat old farm equipment in and around the property provides lots of great photo opportunities as well.

The experience is complete with our cozy farmhouse.  Guests will love the antiques, vintage claw foot bathtub, porch swing, and the wood stove. There is even an RV hookup and plenty of outdoor space for tents for those wanting more guests to spend the night.

For those looking for more sport, we have darts, hiking trails, horse shoes, fishing and have even developed our own golf game called Bulls eye Golf.

Each couple has their own vision of what they want a farm wedding to be, we provide the perfect setting and allow you to create the rest with your own caterers, vendors, etc. You have to see it to believe it and of course, we can't wait to show you!!!”

Guest Blog Post by Boone's one and only Miss Match Rentals!!!

Hi Friends. Today we have Andi Gelsthorpe sharing a little about her amazing rental company located in the Boone  area of the North Carolina High Country. Andi and her husband started Miss Match Rentals a few years back and have “hit the nail on the head” by filling a much needed niche for our North Carolina mountain weddings. They rent out vintage dinnerware place settings that are a wonderful complement to any mountain wedding or event. Here’s Andi in her own words:

“What is the on the menu?” is a common question heard around the table. In some cultures, sharing a meal is a sacred event. You know the saying “good food and good friends make for a good time”. Think of all the memories that are made while sharing a tasty meal, home cooked or eaten out. The wedding meal is particularly significant in that family and friends have gathered to celebrate on this distinct occasion. Those from near and far, old friends and new, come to take part in this banquet with the bride and groom. They all journey to the same table to sit down and share their stories and their affection for the newlyweds. It is simply and quietly powerful and often highly enjoyable and unforgettable.

Miss Match Rentals, located in the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina , provides vintage dinnerware place settings to events from backyard dinner parties to large High Country wedding celebrations. We specialize in stoneware, mid-century ware, and fine china settings. Miss Match Rentals stays true to its name--we rent all mis-matched vintage dinnerware. It not only

adds flair and color to a table setting, but the dinnerware also brings of layers of memories of days gone by. Generations of individuals have eaten off of our plates. Our collection includes literally hundreds of different patterns. We make a point not to buy sets of dishes, rather we prefer to pick out two or three pieces of a certain pattern and add them to our collection. Those pieces that have no match are the dearest to my heart. A rental may include over a hundred different styles that can be mixed and matched to create unique and interesting place settings. Our website and FB page showcase our collection. The symbolism of sharing a meal is far reaching. We are honored to have our dinnerware invited to the table!

Mountain Margarita Tutorial for a Tasty Wedding Signature Drink

classic-margarita-rocks-l

The Whole Shebang traveled down to the North Carolina Coast this weekend for a gorgeous wedding on the waterfront of Southport, NC. I had the pleasure of working with my 3 little sisters and brother in law of Southport Catering.

Thought I’d share a step by step Margarita recipe that we served for their cocktail hour.

The mix that I made lasted through the Cocktail Hour for a guest list of 120 but we were also serving beer and wine. If you are just sticking with the cocktail and nothing else, I would double the batch.

Ingredients:

3 Cans of Limeade – Dilute with an extra 8 oz of water for each can so that it’s not too sweet.

2 Fifths of Silver Tequila

1 Pint of Triple Sec or Cointreau (Sweeten with a bit of local Mountain honey for a High Country Flair)

5 Oranges Squeezed

10 Limes Squeezed

Combine all ingredients in one big container and then distribute into pitchers. Pour over ice and garnish with a lime.

Be sure to stir the mix regularly so that the pulp is evenly distributed.

We didn’t bother with salt on the rim just to save on time and nobody missed it but that’s easy to do if you want.

Erin and Brad's Swoonworthy Wedding at the Allandale Mansion in Kingsport Tennessee

I can without a doubt say that Mrs. Erin Hankins was my favorite bride of last season. It’s not just because her gorgeous wedding at the Allandale Mansion in Kingsport Tennessee was featured in this seasons Southern Living Weddings but also because she’s been one of my closest friends since I moved to the Blowing Rock, NC area.

Seriously, I have never ever ever ever seen a bride work so hard on planning her “Big Day”. Just about everything you see in these pictures was made/gathered by hand. It just goes to show that if you have a year long engagement, a creative bride, a graphic designer groom, a strong focus and a world class photographer like Jennie Andrews, you too can create your own picture perfect dream wedding from scratch!

Enjoy…
