Hi Friends. Today we have Andi Gelsthorpe sharing a little about her amazing rental company located in the Boone area of the North Carolina High Country. Andi and her husband started Miss Match Rentals a few years back and have “hit the nail on the head” by filling a much needed niche for our North Carolina mountain weddings. They rent out vintage dinnerware place settings that are a wonderful complement to any mountain wedding or event. Here’s Andi in her own words:

“What is the on the menu?” is a common question heard around the table. In some cultures, sharing a meal is a sacred event. You know the saying “good food and good friends make for a good time”. Think of all the memories that are made while sharing a tasty meal, home cooked or eaten out. The wedding meal is particularly significant in that family and friends have gathered to celebrate on this distinct occasion. Those from near and far, old friends and new, come to take part in this banquet with the bride and groom. They all journey to the same table to sit down and share their stories and their affection for the newlyweds. It is simply and quietly powerful and often highly enjoyable and unforgettable.

We specialize in stoneware, mid-century ware, and fine china settings. Miss Match Rentals stays true to its name–we rent all mis-matched vintage dinnerware. It not only

adds flair and color to a table setting, but the dinnerware also brings of layers of memories of days gone by. Generations of individuals have eaten off of our plates. Our collection includes literally hundreds of different patterns. We make a point not to buy sets of dishes, rather we prefer to pick out two or three pieces of a certain pattern and add them to our collection. Those pieces that have no match are the dearest to my heart. A rental may include over a hundred different styles that can be mixed and matched to create unique and interesting place settings.
